Multi-Agent Formations in a Herd of Wolves Hunting Model

چکیده
A great amount of work has been made in systems of multiple autonomous agents and robots; for example, in applications like the exploration of land and harvesting of dangerous materials [12]. In this work we present a multi agent formation model of a herd of wolves during a preypredator hunting behavior. The model has been developed and tested in a multi-agent simulation environment.

Group size, individual role differentiation and effectiveness of cooperation in a homogeneous group of hunters.
The emergence of cooperation in wolf-pack hunting is studied using a simple, homogeneous, particle-based computational model. Wolves and prey are modelled as particles that interact through attractive and repulsive forces. Realistic patterns of wolf aggregation readily emerge in numerical simulations, even though the model includes no explicit wolf-wolf attractive forces, showing that the form ...
متن کاملIdentity-Driven Differences in Stakeholder Concerns about Hunting Wolves
Whereas past wolf management in the United States was restricted to recovery, managers must now contend with publicly contentious post-recovery issues including regulated hunting seasons. Understanding stakeholder concerns associated with hunting can inform stakeholder engagement, communication, and policy development and evaluation. Social identity theory (SIT) has been used to understand how ...
متن کاملGroup Size Effect on the Success of Wolves Hunting
— Social foraging shows unexpected features such as the existence of a group size threshold to accomplish a successful hunt. Above this threshold, additional individuals do not increase the probability of capturing the prey. Recent direct observations of wolves (Canis lupus) in Yellowstone Park show that the group size threshold when hunting its most formidable prey, bison (Bison bison), is nea...
متن کاملInfluence of Group Size on the Success of Wolves Hunting Bison
An intriguing aspect of social foraging behaviour is that large groups are often no better at capturing prey than are small groups, a pattern that has been attributed to diminished cooperation (i.e., free riding) in large groups. Although this suggests the formation of large groups is unrelated to prey capture, little is known about cooperation in large groups that hunt hard-to-catch prey. Here...
متن کاملFeasible Formations of Multi-Agent Systems
Formations of multi-agent systems, such as satellites and aircraft, require that individual agents satisfy their kinematic equations while constantly maintaining inter-agent constraints. In this paper, we develop a systematic framework for studying formations of multiagent systems. In particular, we consider undirected formations for centralized formations and directed formations for decentrali...
